The Brazilian government welcomed the Japanese government’s announcement authorizing the export of Hass avocados from Brazil to Japan.
This authorization opens new opportunities for Brazilian agribusiness while diversifying the fruit offerings available to the Japanese market, one of the most demanding in the world.
Japan was the fourth-largest destination for Brazilian agricultural products in 2023, with exports totaling $4.1 billion. In 2024, agricultural sales to Japan reached $1.71 billion in the first seven months. In the fruit segment, Brazil exported $3.29 million to the Asian country in 2024.
With this new authorization, Brazilian agribusiness has achieved its 104th market opening this year, bringing the total to 182 market openings in 58 destinations since the beginning of 2023.
These achievements result from the joint efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
