Brazil conquers Canadian market: export of pork gelatin and collagen

In a strategic move to strengthen Brazil-Canada trade ties, the Canadian government has authorized the import of porcine gelatin and collagen from Brazil. This decision, which eliminates the need for health certifications, underscores confidence in Brazil’s rigorous health control system. It not only highlights the quality of Brazil’s agricultural industry but also signifies a mutual commitment to enhancing trade relations between the two nations.

This milestone comes amid Brazil’s remarkable success in securing new market openings worldwide. With 23 new markets in 17 countries this year alone and a total of 101 since the start of President Lula’s third term, Brazil’s achievements reflect the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, and the agricultural sector.

In 2023, Canada emerged as the 28th largest destination for Brazilian agribusiness exports, with negotiations amounting to a substantial $1.05 billion. This latest development not only holds the promise of further bolstering Brazilian exports but also signifies the deepening trust and cooperation between Brazil and Canada, paving the way for future commercial partnerships across various sectors beyond agriculture.
