Brazil extends antidumping duties on Chinese garlic imports for five years

The government has extended for five years the definitive antidumping duty applied to Brazilian imports of fresh or chilled garlic originating from China. The decision was published in resolutions by the Executive Management Committee of the Chamber of Foreign Trade (Gecex) on Tuesday (30) in the Federal Gazette (DOU).
Dumping is a form of unfair competition in which a country exports products at lower prices than those charged in the local market, thereby harming the production of the importing country. When dumping is proven, the government can impose an additional duty or set an import quota.
