Brazil gains new market access in Lebanon and Tanzania

The Brazilian government has concluded sanitary negotiations with the governments of Lebanon and Tanzania, allowing Brazil to export various agribusiness products to those countries.

In Lebanon, sanitary authorities authorized Brazil to export live cattle and buffalo for breeding. In 2024, Lebanon imported more than USD 195 million in live cattle from several countries. This new market opening strengthens Brazil’s commercial position, which, in the same year, exported around USD 432 million in agribusiness products to Lebanon, especially meat, the sugar-ethanol complex, and coffee.

In Tanzania, the local authorities authorized Brazil to export the following types of products: meat and thermoprocessed products from poultry, cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs; poultry genetic material (fertile eggs and day-old chicks); bovine genetic material (in vivo and in vitro embryos); and live cattle for breeding. With a population of 68 million and a path of economic growth, Tanzania represents future business opportunities for Brazilian producers. In 2024, Tanzania imported around USD 31 million in agribusiness products from Brazil, with emphasis on the sugar-ethanol sector.

With these announcements, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 486 market openings since the beginning of 2023.

These results are the outcome of joint work between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
