Brazil has officially opened the South Korean market for egg exports. The announcement was made by Agriculture Ministry Trade and International Relations Secretary Luís Rua during the Animal Welfare Strategy Forum on Thursday (May 7).

In February this year, the South Korean government confirmed receipt of the documentation required to authorize imports of Brazilian eggs.

According to Rua, the opening marks another step forward for Brazilian agribusiness in the Asian market and expands opportunities for the country’s poultry sector, especially at a time of rising international demand for protein.

Rua also said South Korea is considered a strategic market for Brazilian agricultural products because of the country’s high sanitary standards. “Approval for Brazilian eggs reinforces international recognition of Brazil’s sanitary system and production capacity,” he said.

In 2025, Brazil exported 40,900 tonnes of eggs, generating $97.2 million in revenue and reaching 87 international markets, according to a report by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association, or ABPA.

Take a look at the historical snapshot for Brazilian egg exports from 2023 through February 2026. Measured in TEUs, here is a breakdown of how the volumes have been stacking up over the last few years.

The advance in exports points to greater competitiveness for the Brazilian product and broader access to new destinations, even though exports still represent a relatively small share of total production.

ABPA also said that a review of the historical series shows strong growth in export revenue in recent years, signaling greater product appreciation and opportunities in specific niches of the international market.
