The announcement that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), China, granted sanitary certification for the export of bird feathers from Brazil was met with great joy by the Brazilian government.
The product has several industrial uses, including the manufacture of cushions, pillows, bedding, and upholstery, in addition to being used as a raw material in thermal and acoustic insulation products.
This recent development expands the market for poultry products in Brazil, reflecting confidence in the Brazilian health control system. It also strengthens the commercial relationship with the Hong Kong SAR, China, which was responsible for the import of more than US$1.15 billion in Brazilian agribusiness products last year.
With this announcement, Brazilian agribusiness firms reached their 72nd market opening this year, at some 150 since the beginning of 2023.
