Around 200 kilograms of cocaine were found hidden in the hull of a ship at the Port of Imbituba, in southern Santa Catarina state, last Sunday (31). According to the 34th Military Police Battalion, the vessel Allegra was of Maltese origin, and the drugs were bound for Portugal. No suspects were identified during the operation.
The drugs were discovered at around 4:40 p.m. during a diving and inspection training exercise on vessels. Alongside the military, members of the Federal Police’s Special Maritime Police Unit (Nepom) from Florianópolis and Itajaí, as well as officers from the Special Police Operations Battalion (Bope), participated in the drill.
A photo of the case shows the cocaine divided into several packages. All the material was taken to the Federal Police headquarters in the state capital.
This was not the first time drugs have been found in ship hulls at the Port of Imbituba. In February 2024, Federal Police divers discovered 124 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the submerged structure of a vessel anchored at the port. That ship was headed to South Africa.
