Brazil’s average corn exports increase by 75% until the 2nd week of July

Corn exports from Brazil reached 158.89 thousand tonnes per day until the second week of July, an increase of around 75% compared to the daily average of 90.5 thousand tonnes shipped by the country in July last year, data showed from the federal government released on July 11th.

The growth occurs as the harvest of corn’s second crop nears completion, with record perspectives for production.

In 2021, crops were affected by drought and frost, which reduced the availability of grains for shipment.

On the import end, Brazil’s purchases of chemical fertilizers totaled 200,470 tonnes per day until the second week of July versus a daily average of 175,290 in the same whole month of 2021, according to the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex).
