Brazil’s Federal Revenue Seizes Over 800 kg of Cocaine Hidden in Coffee Shipment at Port of Santos

The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service seized 832 kg of cocaine at the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo state, this Thursday (8). According to the agency, the drug was concealed within a shipment of 19 tons of coffee and was discovered with the help of sniffer dogs.
According to the Federal Revenue, the cargo was intercepted during routine customs surveillance and enforcement operations conducted by teams from the Santos Customs Office. The shipment, stored in sacks, was destined for the Port of Antwerp in Belgium.
During the inspection, several sacks were found containing cocaine bricks hidden among the coffee beans. The agency added that two of its detection dogs signaled positively for the presence of narcotics.
After confirming that the cargo was contaminated, the Federal Police were called to investigate the case. No arrests were made.
