Chile’s fruit exports ended the 2025/26 season up 4.4% in value, reaching $9.95 billion FOB between September 2025 and August 2026, according to a report from the country’s Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies, known as Odepa.

Fresh fruit accounted for 66.3% of the total, with shipments worth $6.6 billion FOB. That was 1.8% below the 2024/25 season, a decline of $123 million.

Export volume fell 0.4%, equivalent to 11,900 fewer metric tons shipped during the period.

Among fresh fruit categories, cherries retained the largest share of export sales. Shipments totaled $2.84 billion FOB, down 7.1% in value, while volume fell 8.9% to 625,300 metric tons.

Despite the decline, the average export price for cherries rose 2% from the previous season to $4.64 per kilogram.

Table grapes ranked second, generating $908.8 million FOB from 477,600 metric tons exported. That represented declines of 7.4% in value and 14.3% in volume.

Apples ranked third among fresh fruit exports, with shipments totaling $639.6 million FOB and 570,500 metric tons. Compared with the previous season, export value rose 1.2% while volume declined 1.3%.

Blueberries posted the strongest growth in value among the main fresh fruit categories. Exports reached $506.76 million FOB, an increase of $66.6 million, or 15.1%, from the previous season. Volume also increased, rising 2.4%.

Nuts gain share

Nuts accounted for 13.9% of total fruit export value, generating $1.39 billion during the season.

That represented an increase of $431.6 million, or 45.2%, while export volume rose 31.2%.

Hazelnuts overtook walnuts to become the leading product in the segment by value. Shipments reached $753.1 million FOB, more than double the previous season’s total, with growth of 106.1%. Volume increased 84.3%.

Chilean walnut exports, meanwhile, reached $558 million, up 6.4% from the previous season, while the value exported increased 14.2%.

Frozen fruit exports also rise

Frozen fruit accounted for 7.3% of total export value, reaching $730 million, up 16.7% from the previous season.

Dried fruit represented 5.2% of total export value and increased 1.8%.

Other processed products also accounted for 7.3% of shipments by value. Within that category, preserves grew 5.2%, while juice exports declined 1.9% and oils fell 9.4% during the 2025/26 season.

The figures show that growth in Chile’s fruit exports was driven mainly by nuts and frozen products, which offset weaker performance in the main fresh fruit categories.
