Cotton exports from Brazil to fall 28% in 21/22, says Anea

Brazilian cotton exports shall reach 1.742 million tonnes in the 2021/22 cycle (July-June), down 28% below the previous season’s record of 2.414 million, the National Association of Cotton Exporters (Anea) confirmed on April 7th.
China, the world’s largest cotton importer, continues to be the main destination for Brazilian exports (30.2%), followed by Vietnam (16.7%), Turkey (13.2%), Pakistan (11.2% ) and Bangladesh (10.6%).

The association’s president, Miguel Faus, commented that factors such as uncertainty about the duration of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the rise in the price of fertilizers and pesticides, additional world inflation, the volatility of the oil prices, and the shortage of containers are points that concern the industry.
