Ecoporto renews transition contract at Port of Santos through 2027

Ecoporto Santos, a company under EcoRodovias Group, has signed a new transition contract with the Santos Port Authority, or APS, valid for one year from May 31 and worth approximately R$24 million. The agreement ensures the continuity of its operations at the Saboó quay in the Port of Santos.
According to a statement from EcoRodovias, the contract secures operations for another 12 months. If the definitive lease bidding process is not completed within that period, APS may authorize a new contract.
The terminal operates as a storage yard for containers, general cargo and vehicles in an area of 88,365 square meters at the Saboó quay. The facility is part of the area planned for the future Tecon Santos 10 – ST S10, whose auction date has not yet been set.
In a statement, APS said the contract prevents the area from remaining idle, secures revenue for the port and ensures the continuity of operations and jobs at the site.
Ecoporto’s original lease contract was signed in 1998 for a 25-year term and expired in June 2023. As the new bidding process has not yet been held, the National Waterway Transportation Agency authorized temporary contracts to keep activities running.
Since then, successive amendments and transition contracts have been signed. The current contract, signed on May 27, is the third under this model and will remain in force until May 2027.
Ecoporto’s area is part of the Tecon Santos 10 project, whose bidding model is being reassessed by the federal government. In April, the Ministry of Ports and Airports asked Antaq to temporarily suspend the bidding process to review the project’s guidelines and structure.
Despite the reassessment, the government still expects to hold the Tecon Santos 10, or STS 10, auction in 2026.
