Grape exports to Azerbaijan expected to help balance domestic supply

Brazil’s grape sector has secured access to the Azerbaijani market, opening a new destination for the country’s exports of the fruit. The move was formalized after negotiations between the competent authorities of both countries. The measure strengthens Brazil’s presence abroad and points to potential economic growth in trade between the two nations.

In 2025, total trade between Brazil and Azerbaijan reached $24 million. Although that figure is still considered modest, the inclusion of grapes in the list of export products is expected to help boost those numbers in the coming years.

According to the Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics, or Cepea, the approval is part of a broader set of market openings secured by Brazilian agribusiness. These advances are the result of coordinated efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Foreign Ministry.

With this latest opening, Brazil has reached a total of 591 agribusiness market openings since the beginning of 2023. The record reflects diplomatic and technical efforts to diversify trading partners and reduce dependence on traditional markets.

The opening of the Azerbaijani market creates a new strategic outlet for Brazil’s grape sector. The new sales channel comes at a crucial moment for balancing domestic supply.

Brazil’s grape export season is traditionally concentrated in the first half of the year. This seasonal window helps ease supply pressure in the domestic market, allowing local availability to remain under control and consumer prices to stay more stable.
