Indonesia clears Brazilian bovine genetics for export market
Sep, 10, 2025 Posted by Lucas LorimerWeek 202538
The Brazilian government has received approval from Indonesian sanitary authorities for the models of International Zoosanitary Certificates that will support exports of bovine semen and embryos from Brazil to the country.
This market opening represents an important opportunity for Brazilian livestock, which stands out for its genetic excellence, sanitary quality, and use of advanced biotechnologies in animal reproduction. Exporting genetic material allows Indonesia to strengthen its herd, increase local productivity, and reduce the costs of importing live animals, while at the same time opening new business opportunities for Brazilian companies in the sector.
Indonesia, the world’s fourth most populous country with more than 270 million inhabitants, has been increasing its demand for animal protein and investing in genetic improvement to meet its growing domestic supply needs. In this context, Brazil positions itself as a reliable partner, offering cutting-edge, high-quality technology.
With this announcement, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 428 market openings since the beginning of 2023.
These advances are the result of joint work between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
