JBS Terminais, which operates the Port of Itajaí in Santa Catarina, is closely following preparations for the concession of a mega terminal at the Port of Santos—Tecon 10. The government aims to publish the bidding notice in September and complete the process by the end of the year. The auction is expected to generate an investment of R$5.6 billion.
More than 20 major groups are monitoring the project through the National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq). The Filipino group International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), which operates in Rio de Janeiro, is particularly interested in expanding its presence in Brazil.
