According to data released by Scot Consultoria, Brazilian exports of live cattle recorded their best performance in recent years in November. During the period, the international market paid US$115.6 million for the purchase of 113,000 head, reinforcing the importance of foreign trade as an alternative source of remuneration for domestic producers.
Sales of live cattle abroad have ensured prices higher than those in the domestic market, expanding negotiation opportunities and stimulating production. In November, this trend gained momentum with increases in both shipment volumes and revenue generated by the operations.
Rio Grande do Sul led exports in the month, shipping 46,000 head. It was followed by Pará, with 33,000 head; a state classified as “not declared,” with 27,000 head; and Santa Catarina, with 3,600 head. Scot Consultoria noted that if the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) updates its data, the figures may be revised.
Other states, such as Acre, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rondônia, Roraima, and São Paulo, also took part in exports, though with smaller volumes.
In the case of Rio Grande do Sul, Turkey was the main destination, purchasing 45,000 head, while Morocco imported the remainder. For Pará, sales were distributed among Egypt, which led purchases with 10,300 head, as well as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Morocco. The latter was also the sole destination for Santa Catarina’s cattle exports.
On a year-to-date basis, live cattle shipments already total 959,500 head. The sector expects Brazil to close the year with a new export record for this category, surpassing the volume recorded in 2024, when around 1 million head were exported.
