Manaus is the leading city for imports in Brazil in 2025

Manaus ranked first among Brazilian municipalities in imports in the accumulated period of 2025, according to data from the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti), compiled from the Comexstat system. From January to August, the capital of Amazonas recorded US$10.93 billion in imported products to supply the Manaus Industrial Hub (PIM), surpassing Itajaí (SC), which registered US$10.78 billion, and São Paulo (SP), with US$6.65 billion.

For the Sedecti secretary, Serafim Corrêa, the result highlights the strong moment of the Amazonian economy and the relevance of the Free Trade Zone model, showing that the growth of imports directly reflects the production chain of the Manaus Industrial Hub, which contributes significantly to tax revenue and promotes innovation and competitiveness.

“Manaus is the number one Brazilian city in imports. This means that components from abroad are combined with domestic ones, resulting in the highest revenue ever for the Manaus Industrial Hub. The PIM supplies the Brazilian market with quality, competitive prices, and on equal terms with imported products,” emphasized the secretary.

The performance places Manaus at the top of the national list, ahead of traditional importing hubs in the South and Southeast, such as Petrópolis (RJ), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Paulínia (SP), and Santos (SP).

Production Chain

The inputs are incorporated into domestic parts and transformed into televisions, cell phones, motorcycles, and computer equipment, which then supply the entire Brazilian market. This cycle generates jobs, boosts the local economy, and strengthens state revenue.

The main item on Manaus’s import list in 2025 was integrated circuits and electronic microassemblies, with a value of US$1.83 billion in trade. These components are imported from abroad to be integrated with national inputs and transformed into high-tech finished products, supplying Brazil with quality and competitive products at affordable prices.
