Mexican footwear components to Brazil fall sharply
Sep, 22, 2022 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202238
Data from the industry association Abicalçados reveals that in the first eight months of 2022, Mexico shipped the equivalent of US$38,138 in footwear components, which represents a decrease of 49.5% compared to the same period of 2021, when the country gained US$75,535 with exports.
The same report also reveals that, in terms of volume, the Mexican footwear industry registered exports of only 2,094 kilos of footwear components to the Brazilian market between January and August, 53.9% below the total registered during the same period last year.
Despite this remarkable drop, Mexico is still in the top 3 of Brazil’s largest Latin American suppliers of parts and components for footwear manufacturers, behind only Paraguay and Colombia.
