Navegantes Port Terminal obtains environmental license for pier work
Aug, 23, 2021 Posted by Ruth HollardWeek 202134
IMA (the environmental institute of Santa Catarina) issued the environmental installation license for Portonave to begin work on improving the berth at the Navegantes Port Terminal. The work represents an investment of R$ 500 million and will be essential to modernize the port’s mooring berths, enabling the port to receive larger ships and increase productivity.
Currently, the environmental operating license for the port develops fundamental environmental plans that guarantee the environmental viability of the activity, such as the monitoring of underground water; monitoring of air quality and atmospheric emissions; monitoring of the sewage treatment plant; environmental noise monitoring; solid waste management; environmental recovery program, fauna rescue; green curtain; environmental emergencies; and estuary monitoring.
The works at the wharf will be developed with the objective of seeking economic growth, in balance with social and environmental aspects. All stages of the work were planned to minimize environmental risks. Our goal is to make this work a successful case in sustainability”.
