Paraguayan Beef Exports to Chile See 2.5% Decline Through August

Chilean imports of Paraguayan beef dropped by 2.5% through August this year, compared to the same period in 2023, according to a report from the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa).
Chile purchased 80,632 tonnes of Paraguayan beef by August 2024, down from 82,705 tonnes the previous year. Meanwhile, Brazil, another major beef supplier to Chile, saw a 3% reduction in exports, shipping 65,222 tonnes compared to 67,249 tonnes in 2023.
Argentina, however, recorded a significant increase, boosting its beef exports to Chile by 13%, reaching 14,731 tonnes. In contrast, other suppliers like the United States, Uruguay, and Colombia saw declining shipments to the Chilean market.
In terms of pricing, Paraguayan beef fetched an average of USD 5,420 per tonne, marking a slight increase of 0.6%. Brazilian beef was priced at USD 5,068 per tonne, a 2.9% drop. Argentine beef sold for USD 6,801 per tonne, while the United States and Uruguay commanded higher prices at USD 15,153 and USD 6,953 per tonne, respectively.
