The 2025 figures show positive results from vessel traffic at the Port of Ilhéus. The terminal generated R$ 15.5 million in tariff revenue, an increase of approximately 10.27% compared to 2024. Performance was driven mainly by project cargo, which rose 100.86%, reflecting the higher added value of the goods transported.
According to Antonio Gobbo, president of the Federal Port Authority – CODEBA, the growth reflects investments in modernizing infrastructure. More than R$31 million was allocated to maintenance dredging, fencing of the customs area, and installation of an access control system—essential services to expand operational capacity and port security in what is a strategic area for the Federal Government and fundamental to regional and national economic development.
“This was a good year, especially in terms of revenue, due to the higher added value of the cargo handled at the Port of Ilhéus. The port serves not only southern Bahia but also northern Minas Gerais, handling specialized cargo. There are rare earths, energy-transition minerals, manganese—which is currently strong in the market—and cocoa, which is a cornerstone of the economy. With these new works and the consolidation of the new depth, we expect to attract more maritime operations to Ilhéus, and these numbers should continue to grow,” Gobbo projects.
He also highlights investments planned for 2026, which will further expand the Port of Ilhéus’s operational capacity and job and income generation. “Next year, works will be carried out for unberthing improvements, paving, drainage, and rock armoring, as well as a new dredging campaign that will increase depth from 10 to 14 meters. Studies will also be conducted to modernize grain-handling equipment. Expanding the back area, storage capacity, and upgrading equipment are part of a broader plan to increase the value of this port asset, which is so important to Brazil,” Gobbo emphasized.
2026/2027 Cruise Seasons
In addition to cargo operations, passenger traffic arriving via cruise ships is a key driver of employment and income in the region. With a focus on strengthening the city’s cruise season, CODEBA has been participating in conferences and events to promote Ilhéus as a tourist destination and has already confirmed 16 cruise calls for the 2026/2027 season and 15 for the 2027/2028 season, with the possibility of additional itineraries.
Restoration of Northern Beaches
Addressing the demands of Ilhéus residents, the CODEBA president confirmed plans to restore the city’s northern beaches. “The Terms of Reference for the beach nourishment project on Ilhéus’s Northern Beaches have already been prepared. The project was tendered this year and is expected to be completed in approximately six months. The Terms of Reference already include engineering solutions to promote beach nourishment. Naturally, the project depends on a series of conditions—especially environmental—for this set of works, which are so necessary for the population, to be implemented,” he explained.
