Port of Imbituba has historic throughput record in May 2022

May was a groundbreaking month for the Port of Imbituba, as it achieved a record volume in the Port Complex, with an impressive throughput of 700,000 tonnes. This monthly record represents a significant 16.2% growth compared to last year. The previous milestone was set in May 2021, with approximately 682,000 tonnes transported.
A total of 23 ships were serviced in May, with a predominant focus on export products. This export flow experienced remarkable growth of 30.3% compared to May 2022. The cargo transported for international shipping accounted for 48.5% of the total, while imports represented 39.2%, and cabotage contributed 12.3%. Some of the most transported cargoes are petroleum coke, meal (soybean and corn), containers, salt, and corn.
Looking at the YTD result, the Port of Imbituba has handled over 3.2 million tonnes, and it is expected to surpass 7.3 million tonnes by the end of December, demonstrating a positive outlook for continued growth and performance.
