The Port of Itajaí received a new call by the Dover Highway on Monday, May 18, carrying 739 vehicles. The vessel berthed at 12:30 a.m., with unloading beginning at 7 a.m., adding to the port’s cargo activity and further diversifying operations at the public terminal.
The operation was carried out with the access channel fully available for navigation, ensuring safety, operational regularity and predictability for port activities.
With Monday’s call, the Port of Itajaí has recorded five roll-on/roll-off operations in 2026, totaling 2,928 vehicles handled. This year’s calls include the Victoria Highway, with 628 vehicles; the Dover Highway, with 457 vehicles; the Good Wood, with 430 units; the Victoria Highway, with 674 vehicles; and now the Dover Highway, with 739 vehicles.
The figures point to the return of ro-ro operations at the Port of Itajaí and reflect renewed market confidence in the terminal, which has been expanding its cargo portfolio and positioning itself as an efficient logistics alternative in Brazil.
For Port of Itajaí Superintendent Artur Antunes Pereira, the latest call confirms the progress of the public port’s operational recovery.
“This new operation shows that the port sector has regained confidence in the Port of Itajaí. The resumption of activities, with a navigable channel, regularity and efficiency, has restored the terminal’s competitiveness to attract new cargoes and expand opportunities. It is a result that strengthens the public port, drives the economy and reaffirms Itajaí’s strategic importance in Brazil’s logistics landscape,” he said.
The growth in roll-on/roll-off operations underscores the Port of Itajaí’s recovery, as it rebuilds operating capacity, attracts new cargoes and strengthens its role as a strategic asset for Santa Catarina and Brazilian foreign trade.
