Port of Maceió throughput grows by more than 43% in 2Q22

The statistical report released by Antaq on Monday, August 15, shows that cargo throughput at the Port of Maceió grew 43.3% in the second quarter of 2022 from the same period last year.
The data show that more than 603 thousand tonnes of cargo were handled at the port between April, May, and June alone. In 2021, within the same months, the total was more than 420 thousand tonnes, an increase compared to the previous year.
Sugars and bakery products have the highest throughput percentage at the Port of Maceió, representing 47.5% of the total (286,258 tonnes). The following products occupy the second place: salt, sulfur; earth, and stones; plaster; lime, and cement, adding up to 23.2% (139,683 tonnes). Finally, mineral fuels, mineral oils, and products derived from their distillation, bituminous materials, and mineral waxes account for 15.9% of the movement (96,164 tonnes).
