In August, Brazil’s National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq) approved the kickstart of a new Temporary Lease Tender, in which the management of the Port of Itajaí was up for bids.
On the upcoming 12th, Antaq will disclose any issues regarding budding documents, and on the 13th, a Public Auction Session will take place involving the opening and classification of the proposals submitted. The final order of qualified candidates for the temporary lease will be posted on Antaq’s website.
The new temporary lease will have a duration of 24 months without the previously included resolutive clause that allowed for contract termination before this period. The new contract will provide legal security to the winning company for two years.
In a statement, Portonave stated that it is evaluating the temporary lease tender for the Port of Itajaí. Below is the complete statement:
“Portonave and its shareholder, Terminal Investment Limited (TiL), are currently evaluating the temporary lease tender for the Port of Itajaí, released on August 25th by the Ministry of Ports, Airports, and the National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq).
The company is conducting the necessary internal technical feasibility analyses. It informs that it will follow the due process of governance and compliance, maintaining confidentiality regarding participation or non-participation until the process is opened, in accordance with market competition rules.”
