The Panamanian-flagged bulk carrier Seralia has berthed at ACA’s terminal at Puerto Quequén to load 68,000 tonnes of Argentine soybeans bound for China.
The operation ranks among the four largest agricultural shipments ever handled by the Argentine port, reinforcing Puerto Quequén’s role as a key outlet for grain exports and highlighting the importance of draft, operational predictability and logistics competitiveness for the region.
The vessel is 229 meters long and more than 32 meters wide, making it an unusually large call for the terminal. Its arrival reflects the port’s ability to handle larger bulk carriers and move high-volume grain cargoes efficiently.
Record shipment bound for Asia
The Seralia will load 68,000 tonnes of soybeans for the Chinese market. With that volume, the shipment stands among the largest agricultural export operations in Puerto Quequén’s history and confirms the port’s strategic role in Argentina’s agro-export logistics.
The operation also underscores the importance of efficient dredging and logistics modernization, which allow vessels of this size to operate closer to full capacity. That reduces logistics costs and increases the value captured by producers and exporters across the port’s hinterland.
Coordination across the port chain
The successful berthing maneuver and start of loading were the result of coordination between private-sector companies and the port authority.
The commercial operation is being handled by Syngenta, with vessel agency services provided by Brisamar S.A. and stevedoring carried out by Pleamar.
Berthing maneuvers were supported by the local tugboats Diamond Cay and Rua Don José, reflecting the training and safety standards of Puerto Quequén’s port community in handling large vessels.
With the Seralia operating at its docks, Puerto Quequén strengthens its position as an important link between Argentina’s agricultural production and international markets.
