Bracell ships an average of 2.8 million tonnes of pulp per year through the Port of Santos, its primary export route. Since the inauguration of its logistics terminal in 2021, the company has transported more than 9 million tonnes of the product.
The company reported that it has invested R$500 million to modernize the terminal, including installing automated cranes for unloading railcars and loading vessels. This will enhance intermodal logistics and facilitate an increase in pulp volumes transported by rail.
Bracell’s Vice President of Logistics, Patrick Silva, stated that the strengthening of the rail modal reflects an industry-wide shift toward greater efficiency and sustainability. “Bracell has played an active role in this transformation, structuring its intermodal operations to optimize production flow,” he said.
Silva noted that “the Pederneiras Intermodal Terminal, inaugurated in partnership with MRS Logística, provides a seamless connection between road and rail transport, replacing approximately 50,000 truck trips per year. This shift to rail reduces CO₂ emissions by 60%, improves logistics efficiency, and contributes to a more sustainable transportation model aligned with the sector’s decarbonization goals.”
He emphasized that integrating road, rail, and port logistics plays a crucial role in enabling the company to expand its export capacity in a sustainable and competitive manner.
