The container terminal of the Port of Salvador received 20,035 pieces of railway tracks on October 8, equivalent to 20,000 tons. The tracks are for FIOL (the west-east Integration railroad). Arriving from China, the tracks are destined for section II of the railway which will connect Caetité and Barreiras, in western Bahia. Two more ships are expected later this year, containing approximately 640 kilometers of tracks for the same stretch of FIOL.
The Pretty Universe ship docked on the morning of October 8. The terminal is experienced in operating gigantic project cargo that requires specialized staff and state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The terminal in the capital of Bahia is undergoing a new expansion phase, with a duplication of the pier and an additional 30,000 m² retro area already completed. Part of FIOL ‘s tracks will be stored in this space until it is transported to its final destination.
