In September, TCP, the company that operates the Paranaguá Container Terminal, broke its own operational record for the third time in 2025, handling its highest monthly volume of the year. A total of 145,513 TEUs were moved, a 3% increase over the previous peak.

Earlier records were reached in March and May, when the terminal handled 138,485 and 141,788 TEUs, respectively. From January to September, total throughput reached 1,227,810 TEUs, up 5% from the same period in 2024.

One of TCP’s strongest segments is refrigerated containers (reefers), which saw a 7% increase over 2024, reaching 106,275 units through September. Much of this growth is linked to steady poultry export volumes and the addition of new clients, particularly in beef exports, who use the terminal’s reefer yard — the largest in South America, with 5,268 plugs.

According to TCP’s operations manager, Felipe de França, “the record volumes are in line with the company’s growth projections and point to a promising outlook for the fourth quarter. By combining cutting-edge technology and a highly qualified team, the terminal has advanced across all fronts — road, rail, and maritime.”

On the terminal’s road access gates, two new records were set in September. Container gate transactions reached 56,820 units, 876 more than the previous record in July (55,944 boxes). The daily record was also surpassed on 25 September, with 2,867 transactions — 112 more than the 2,755 recorded on 24 July.

On the rail line connecting the terminal to northern and western Paraná, TCP also achieved new highs. Between January and September 2025, 155,722 TEUs were moved — 2% more than in the same period of 2024. Service levels have been steadily improving, and in April 2025, the terminal set two records in this segment, with 121 train arrivals and 9,627 units handled.

In maritime operations, TCP received 759 vessel calls in the first nine months of the year, a 3% increase over 2024. The terminal currently handles 21 regular maritime services, totaling 25 weekly calls, making it the port with the highest concentration of shipping services along the Brazilian coast.

Beyond operational records, TCP has also advanced in technology and infrastructure. Highlights include the implementation of the new Container Terminal Operational System (CTOS), the expansion of the truck staging yard — which doubled its throughput capacity in 2025 — and the increase in operational draft from 12.10 to 12.80 meters, allowing vessels to carry up to 560 additional TEUs per voyage.
