Truck drivers cancel strike at the Port of Santos

The Union of Autonomous Bulk Cargo Transporters (Sindgran) has canceled the strike that was scheduled for this Wednesday (03/25), turning away from disruptions at the Port of Santos. The suspension followed a meeting with the Santos Port Authority (APS) in Cubatão, where the parties reached an agreement.
Truck traffic at the Port of Santos is operating normally. Vehicle entry and exit operations have not experienced interruptions. The strike would have affected autonomous bulk cargo truck drivers working at the port.

APS will resume negotiations with all parties involved in the issue. The discussions will include unions, transport companies, port terminals, truck yards, and government representatives, with the goal of reaching a definitive agreement.
Sindgran had called for a mobilization that would have gathered approximately 5,000 truck drivers at the Cubatão Regulatory Yard. The category planned to protest the fees charged for using these yards, which are required for access to port operations.
The union, representing workers from Santos, Guarujá, and Cubatão, stated that the fee can reach up to R$800 for a 24-hour period. Transporters argued that this cost compromises the economic viability of trips and directly impacts their income.
Sindgran maintains that the payment should be the responsibility of port terminals, opposing the current model that transfers this cost to transporters.
Regulatory yards are truck flow control areas located near ports and logistics hubs. Their purpose is to prevent congestion on access roads and queues in urban areas. Vehicles remain in these areas until they receive clearance to enter the terminals.
