With investments of around R$35 million, the Vila Velha Terminal (TVV), operated by Log-In Logística Integrada, is in the final stage of expansion and is expected to put the new area into operation later in 2025. The project was designed to increase Espírito Santo’s logistics efficiency, diversify its portfolio, and create conditions for faster cargo flow from the state.
The initiative includes infrastructure improvements and technological modernization, with a focus on expanding handling capacity and providing suitable conditions for the shipment of strategic cargoes such as coffee and ornamental stones. With the expansion, the terminal also strengthens its multipurpose profile, increasing its attractiveness for new cargo and preventing part of Espírito Santo’s production from being diverted to other regional ports.
With the new area of approximately 70,000 m², TVV expands its total size by nearly 65%, from 108,000 m² to around 178,000 m². The contract for the new area runs for five years and complements the concession agreement renewed in 2020, which foresees investments of approximately R$500 million through 2048 in the existing terminal area. These investments have already delivered significant productivity gains, including a 39% increase in 2024, following the modernization of equipment and systems.
According to Log-In’s Director of Terminals, Gustavo Paixão, the expansion was conceived as part of a long-term strategy to strengthen Espírito Santo’s logistics and provide solutions in anticipation of growing foreign trade demands. “In recent years, coffee and ornamental stone exporters have faced logistical challenges that affected costs and deadlines. TVV, aware of this scenario, structured its expansion to increase available space, modernize processes, and create conditions for Espírito Santo’s production to be shipped efficiently and competitively,” he said.
Final expansion stage
Scheduled for completion in November, the project has already obtained approval from entities including the Vila Velha City Hall, Antaq, the Fire Department, and Iema, the latter in the final stage of environmental/operational licensing. The remaining step is customs clearance, currently under review by the Federal Revenue Service, which is the last authorization required for the effective start of operations in the new area. Once this step is completed, operations could even begin ahead of schedule.
According to Paixão, all necessary investments in infrastructure, safety, and control systems have already been made. “All structural and technological requirements have been implemented, with only customs clearance pending. Speed in this stage by the Federal Revenue Service is crucial so that Espírito Santo can still reap in 2025 the logistical and competitiveness benefits that TVV’s expansion will provide,” he emphasized.
In addition to meeting export demands, the expansion strengthens import flows, particularly in segments such as fertilizers and vehicles, which are essential for the local economy. “The integration between exports and imports creates a virtuous cycle by opening space for new cargo, enabling the terminal to contribute to logistical fluidity and enhance operational efficiency in the state,” Paixão concluded.
