Located in Barra dos Coqueiros (SE), the Inácio Barbosa Maritime Terminal (TMIB), operated by VLI, closed the first six months of 2025 with solid operational results. From January to June, the terminal recorded an 18% increase in cargo volume handled compared to the same period last year. Highlights include:
- Petroleum coke imports, up by 97%, reflecting increased cement production in Sergipe;
- Wheat, which saw a 2.6-fold increase in volume due to the startup or resumption of mill operations in the state.
- Cement, with a 42% rise, is driven by supply needs of industrial units in Brazil’s North region.
- Fertilizer imports, which rose 6%, supporting Sergipe’s agribusiness sector.
These results underscore the terminal’s growing strategic importance for exporting a wide range of Brazilian products, including grains (such as soybeans, corn, and soybean meal), construction materials, fertilizers, and mining products, from the Northeast region.
In addition, the site supports logistics operations for passengers and supplies for Petrobras, assisting vessels operating offshore in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin, and providing port services necessary to sustain the maintenance and operations of oil platforms along the Sergipe coast.
“The consistent operational results we’re seeing confirm that TMIB is increasingly consolidating itself as an efficient alternative for connecting the wealth of the Northeast region to the global market competitively, as well as supporting national production chains. In this regard, we work in partnership with the entire port ecosystem to increase our national relevance and deliver quality service, contributing to the region’s economy,” said Aroldo Cecílio, VLI’s general commercial manager.
