Wilson Sons Reports 31.3% Surge in Container Throughput in January

Brazilian port operator Wilson Sons handled 125,400 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) in January, marking a 31.3% year-over-year increase, according to the company’s operational data released on Tuesday (4).
Of the total volume, 93,900 TEUs corresponded to full containers, reflecting a 37.2% annual growth, while 31,600 TEUs were empty, up 16.3% from the previous year.
At the Rio Grande terminal, container throughput reached 87,600 TEUs in January, a 45.7% increase from the same period last year. In Salvador, volumes totaled 37,800 TEUs, rising 6.8% year over year.
