The sale of granite slabs was the highlight in the period, with an increase of 62.2%, totaling US$ 176.4 million sent outside Brazilian lands, mainly to the United States.

The 1st quarter of 2022 also brought another highlight: the increase in the average price of Brazilian materials, which increased by 9.5% compared to the 1st quarter of 2021. According to the president of Centrorochas, Tales Machado, the industry’s resilience was critical in this period. “Companies in the stone sector have shown their reaction power in the face of the new international market reality characterized by extensive exchange rate variations and frequent fluctuations in sea freight prices,” he warned.
Top exporting states
Among the Brazilian states with the greatest representation in national exports, Espírito Santo ranked first with 89.4% of exports. It was followed by the state of Minas Gerais (11.8%) and Ceará (3.9%).
According to the president of Sindirochas, Ed Martins, the country that received the most exports from Espírito Santo was the United States, followed by China and Mexico. “Sixty-four percent of the rocks exported from Espirito Santo in the first quarter of this year were bound for the United States.”
