Below is the ranking of the top commodities transported via container on the East Coast of South America, specifically in Brazil and the Plate region, for the first seven months of 2024, along with a comparison to the same period in 2023. This data has been compiled by Datamar’s Business Intelligence team:

Meat remains Brazil’s top exported commodity via containers from January to July 2024, with volumes 8.5% higher than the same period in 2023, followed by wood, whose shipments increased by 17.4%, and cotton, which saw a remarkable growth of 210.2%. Check out the full list:

As for Brazilian imports via containers during the first seven months of 2024, plastics lead the ranking, with volumes 28.9% higher than the same period in 2023, followed by reactors, chairs, and machinery (+10.1%) and electrical equipment (+9.9%). See the full ranking below:

In Argentina, meat also topped the list of exported commodities between January and July 2024, with volumes 1.8% higher than the same months in 2023, followed by vegetable products, whose shipments dropped by 22.8%, and seafood, which performed 18.4% better. Check out the details:

As for Argentine imports, most products saw negative performance in January-July 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Automobiles and parts, which top the ranking, experienced a 20.3% drop in imports. The top three also include reactors, boilers, and machinery (-39.1%) and plastics (-26.7%). See the full ranking:

The ranking of exports via containers from Paraguay and Uruguay between January and July 2024 is led by wood, whose shipments grew by 11.5% compared to the same period in 2023, followed by meat, with volumes 0.5% higher, and animal products (+19%). Check the full ranking below:

As for imports into Paraguay and Uruguay, automobiles and parts topped the list, with volumes 14.2% higher in the first seven months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, followed by reactors, boilers, and machinery (+10.6%) and rubber (-1.1%). See the full list below:
