Brazil launches R$204 million dredging project at Port of Suape

The Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor), through Minister Silvio Costa Filho, has signed the service order to begin dredging operations at the Port of Suape. With an investment of R$204 million, the project will deepen the terminal’s internal channel.
Once completed, the depth will increase to 16.4 meters, allowing access for larger vessels. The services will be carried out by the federal government, which will contribute R$100 million, in partnership with the state government, responsible for R$104 million of the investment.
The estimated completion timeline is six months. According to the MPor, the project complies with international safety standards and environmental regulations, with sediment disposal carried out in areas licensed by the State Environmental Agency (CPRH). The dredging is considered strategic for expanding cargo operations at Suape.
