Opening of Agricultural Markets in the United States
Jan, 29, 2025 Posted by Denise VileraWeek 202505
The Brazilian government welcomed the announcement by the United States government authorizing the export of macadamia nuts, cassava meal, and coconut fiber from Brazil without the need for phytosanitary certification.
In 2024, Brazil exported over $12 billion in agricultural products to the United States. The sectors that contributed most to these exports included coffee, beverages, forestry products, cocoa products, and meats. The opening of the U.S. market to these new products is expected to particularly benefit small and medium-sized Brazilian producers, allowing them to access a high-value market.
With these new approvals, Brazil has achieved 13 market openings in 2025, totaling 313 new business opportunities since the beginning of 2023.
These results are the outcome of joint efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
