Argentina agroindustrial exports hit record 63 million tonnes in first half

Argentina agroindustrial exports reached a record 63 million tonnes in the first half of 2026, maintaining the growth trend seen earlier in the year and reinforcing the sector’s role as a key source of foreign exchange.

Export volume was 15% higher than in the same period of 2025, according to data processed by the Undersecretariat for Agri-Food Markets and International Integration, based on INDEC figures.

In value terms, agroindustrial exports totaled $27.45 billion from January to June, up 18% year over year.

The increase was driven by several export complexes, including primary products and their derivatives. Sunflower posted the strongest growth, with both export volume and value rising 129% from the first half of 2025.

Wheat exports rose 56% in volume and 41% in value, while pulses increased 48% in volume and 68% in value. Sour citrus exports grew 23% in volume and 46% in value.

Dairy products also posted gains, with export volume up 24% and value rising 15%. Fisheries exports increased 12% in volume and 19% in value, while barley rose 19% in volume and 15% in value.

Corn exports advanced 10% in volume and 7% in value. Sorghum grew 12% in volume and 19% in value, while heavy vegetables increased 8% in volume and 14% in value.

Other sectors contributing to the first-half performance included beekeeping, forestry, forage crops, cotton, pork, horsemeat, tobacco, wine, olive products and animal feed.

Of the 54 export complexes analyzed, 37 posted growth compared with 2025. Together, those 37 complexes accounted for 70% of Argentina’s total agroindustrial export volume.

The report also highlighted 25 products that were exported for the first time in several years, including safflower seeds, pork fat, wild beans, corn grits and semolina, goat meat, dried apples, dried pears, dried apricots, chewing gum and soup preparations.

The main destinations for Argentina agroindustrial exports in the first half were Vietnam, China, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Algeria, Indonesia, Peru, Malaysia, India and Egypt. Together, those 10 markets accounted for more than 53% of total export volume.

For exporters, port operators and logistics providers, the record first-half result points to sustained demand for Argentina’s agroindustrial products and continued pressure on the country’s grain, food, refrigerated cargo and bulk logistics chains.

The figures also show a broader diversification of Argentina’s export basket, with growth extending beyond traditional grains into sunflower, dairy, fisheries, citrus, pulses and other regional products.
