Argentina’s grain complexes recorded significant export growth in the first eight months of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024. The data, compiled by the Subsecretariat of Agri-Food Markets and International Integration based on Indec statistics, were released on 8 October by the Secretariat of Agriculture under the Ministry of Economy.

Among the main complexes, rice stood out with a 91% increase, followed by wheat (40%), sorghum (26%), barley and other cereals (3%), and corn, which showed a slight rise of 1%. In the case of rice, the strongest growth was seen in non-parboiled husked rice, semi-milled or milled non-parboiled rice, and husked rice. For wheat, grain exports led the increase, followed by flour, while in sorghum, grain exports were the main driver.

The top ten destinations for all grain exports were Vietnam, Brazil, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Malaysia, Chile, Egypt, China, and Indonesia. Significant increases were also observed in Angola (998%) and Bangladesh (444%)—mainly due to wheat sales—Lebanon (513%), Egypt (156%) driven by corn exports, and Kenya (89%) from combined corn and wheat sales.

According to the Secretariat of Agriculture, the growth in foreign trade reflects public–private partnerships aimed at strengthening international integration. The Argentine National Government has taken several measures to facilitate production and boost exports, including lifting export restrictions, eliminating balancing volumes and the official FOB value for malt, removing export sale declarations, and reducing withholding taxes, among others.

“More exports mean greater regional development, more investment, more jobs, more foreign exchange for the country, and stronger global presence for Argentine products,” the Secretariat stated.
